Gospel According to Vinny by John M. Forte Jr.
VINCENT ANTHONY PETER LAZANO, recounts his days as a young child and the valuable life lessons he has learned. He reflects on what his parents have taught him and his trying to have an honest approach to life with his love of God and family. Vinny hasn’t always been on the up and up in life, but he is always trying to do the right thing. His simple voiceover guides us through current situations in his neighborhood, family and especially events of the past. His epiphanies of faith, family, friends and food are always the mantra of each episode. In the Gospel According to Vinny, we learn about people’s behavior through Vinny’s eyes, and we discover that Vinny is no choir boy, but has changed his life around. The Gospel According To Vinny is an homage to shows like The Brooklyn Bridge and the Wonder Years with a bit of Thomas Aquinas philosophy thrown in for good measure unwittingly by Vinny. Basically, "that for the knowledge of any truth whatsoever man needs divine help, that the intellect may be moved by God to its act." But Vinny’s belief is much more simpler than that, he’s comes to the conclusion, that loving one another is hard but something we need to do by action not just words as his mother taught him.
The Gospel According to Vinny, will have scenes from the past with a young Vinny and his family and as we watch Vinny grow up as an older Vinny recounts his life lessons. Our hearts are tugged on from Vinny’s funny, moving, spiritual, and dramatic accounts of what he has learned. He’s sort of a spiritual bouncer in the bar of life, knowing when to yell and when to confront someone.
